A few days ago I wrote a post outlining the things I didn't like about Christmas (here). I thought I'd cheer things up a bit by talking about what I do like about Christmas.
I like following Google to track Santa with William, and how he tells me that Santa is almost here so he has to go to sleep. I like how excited William gets when he wakes up and sees that Santa has eaten the biscuits and drank the milk. I love how amazed he is when I explain how Santa came to visit. I like how Williams face lights up when he unwraps a present and finds out its just what he was after, and sometimes I like the face he pulls when the present is 'just clothes' but he puts a happy face on anyway. I like sitting in the car with William and recounting tales from when I was a child as we drive to my grandparents house, and how he retells those stories to my grandparents.
I like cooking with my Granny and helping to make Christmas dinner. I like sitting around the table with all my aunts, uncles, cousins as we eat all the food and drink all the alcohol.
I like talking about my Dad, even though he's no longer with us, I like hearing about his Christmas' when he was growing up and how not much has changed to the way we do Christmas today.
Most of all I feel grateful that I get to spend Christmas with my family as so many people can't. And even though I stress and brake down in the lead up to Christmas, its all worth it to make William happy.
What do you like about Christmas?
