Every Christmas William makes decorations and I thought these would be good to show to others as I think that homemade decorations add something else to Christmas. Christmas is all about family time and I think that when you have children it's important to share their creative side and what better way than to show them off at Christmas time.
William made a wreath that we've put above our fireplace. I was going to get a huge mirror to put here but I'm waiting until the new year. William wanted to put this on the front door but with it being so windy lately I didn't want it to get blown away or destroyed. All he's done to make this is intertwined branches and twigs together, keeping them together with the help of wire and string. You could even add those battery powered fairy lights around it too.
An alternative to an actual wreath is this paper plate one. We cut out the middle of a paper plate and glued craft paper around the sides, adding scrunched up red paper for berries and silver paper for bows. This was really easy to do and something that you can keep after Christmas as opposed to the other wreath.
Oh what is Christmas without Santa? This adorable moving Santa is a downloadable print we found on pinterest. We just printed it out onto some card, coloured him in and cut him out. We added cotton balls to his beard and clothes too.
And finally we made an angel for the top of the tree. William loves decorating the tree with me so we had an angel this year to go on the top. We used a paper plate and cut out the wings and head, then folded the body back to make a cone.
What other DIY decorations would be good to make? Do you make your own decorations?
