The lovely Callie has let me take over her blog for the day! I'm Zahra and I blog over at Diary of a Deera, and today I'm sharing a "Summer Skincare Swap" with you all.
Changing seasons means changing skin needs, and a lot of the products you may have used in the winter and early spring might not be the best for you now - but don't worry, I've got you covered ;)
1) BB Creams over Foundation
Let's be realistic, if you're a true makeup enthusiast then giving up foundation for a whole season might seem impossible! But there are some incredible alternatives out there and you may find yourself reaching for them more!
BB creams or tinted moisturisers are a lighter alternative to foundations, giving you the added benefit of moisture and skin protection from harsh UV rays. My current favourite is the Laura Mercier Oil Free Tinted Moisturisers - it's perfect for oily, acne prone skin (they also have ones for dry/normal skin) with a range of colours. Let's not forget it has SPF, very important to protect your skin in the summer!
2) Use thinner moisturisers
You may still be slapping on that ultra thick moisturiser you've been using since November, especially if you have drier skin. But beware, because in the summer heat, thick moisturisers will clog up your pores, and we don't want that!
There are plenty of formulas which are thinner but give you much needed moisture. A great drugstore favourite is the Nivea Soft cream - it's so hydrating without leaving any residue, and a personal favourite!
3) Deep cleaning cleansers
Let's be honest, warm weater = sweat. If you don't get off this residue as well as any makeup your wearing, it'll be bad news for the glowing skin you're aiming for this summer! A cleanser which takes off every last scrap of dirt & makeup is a must-have for this season.
I'd recommend opting for the much loved Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish - even though I have oily skin, I love how hydrating it is and that I can be sure everything is removed at the end of the day!
4) Brightening masks
Instead of your ordinary hydrating mask, I'd recommend opting for one which will give your skin a boost, getting rid of dullness & giving you that natural summer glow.
My current favourite is the revitalising Cucumber Peel Off mask by Superdrug - for a product so cheap, I'm really impressed by how much brighter my skin looks after using it (plus peeling it off is actually quite fun!)
And there we have it! I hope you enjoyed reading & that some of these products will make their way into your summer skincare routine!
