Swapping up my lip products in favour of summer colours:
From left to right: Clinique Chubby Stick in Two Ton Tomato, Rimmel Apocalips in Luna, MAC Morange, Barry M Touch of Magic, Revlon Lip Butter in Candy Apple, Collection Lip Butter in Popping Pink
As the summer is drawing closer I've switched out my usual dark purples and reds for a brighter look opting instead for lighter reds, orange and pinks. I've also gone for more moisturising and 'lighter' feeling lip products over 'heavy' or thick lipsticks - with the exception of the two middle pictured above.
The Clinique Chubby Stick in Two Ton Tomato is one of my favourite Chubby Sticks. In my eyes Clinique started the Chubby Stick phase and they were the first ones that I purchased. They've always been the originals to me. The formula of this is creamy - the kind you find similar with Korres Lip Butter only this is loads easier to apply and doesn't mean getting your finger dirty. I do find that you need a few coats to get the colour to show to the extent that it's easily noticeable. for a more natural look, or rather a less obvious look, just apply one coat. The formula is really moisturising and I have found that this makes a great base for similar coloured lipsticks.
Ahh the Apocalips. I remember when these first came out and everyone went crazy. Truth be told I don't get on with them all, but there are 4 colours that I kept. Luna is one of them and it's the colour I prefer using in summer. It's a dark-pink-nude colour which I really like wearing for work in the warmer weather.
I bought MAC Morange shortly after it's release as I thought it was such a workable colour. I've worn this in winter and summer but definitely prefer it in the warmer months. The only downside to it is that you have to keep reapplying after you've had food/drank coffee etc, because the smallest bit that smudges off makes your lips look like you've just scoffed down a chicken curry.
The Barry M Touch Of Magic lipstick threw me a little when I first saw it. I was a little intrigued as to how it worked. It was a kind of hit or miss on this lipstick as the colour looks differently on everyone so finding a decent review was hard. I took the plunge anyway and I love the colour it gives my lips. It's a sort of Barbie pink meets Taylor Swift Red.
The Revlon Lip Butter in Candy Apple is a moisturising lip balm type of lipstick. It leaves a bright red colour on the lips which lasts on me for around 3-4 hours before needing topped up. Despite being a really nice lip product for summer, this is still the only shade I own. I'll have to pick up another colour soon as they're really really nice!
For a brighter day I stick to Collection Lip Butter in Popping Pink which is a bright pink colour and stays on your lips for hours. It's a Barbie pink colour and one that I didn't think suited me at first, but one that has won me over time and time again.
What are your favourite lipsticks for the warmer months?
