Beauty: Best Self Tans

If you're not going on holiday this year, then these are the best self tans that I've tried to get you that holiday glow:

First up we have Cocoa Brown, which I bought from Primark for about £6. IT takes an hour to develop, but if you have time then I say leave it on for around 4 - then wash it off. You're then left with beautiful tanned skin that lasts around 3-4 days. It does have that slight fake tan biscuit smell if you don't wash it off, but it's not as strong as others. Cocoa Brown is also build-able so you can add layers before washing it off (just make sure to blend!).

Rimmel Sun Shimmer is an instant tan that washes off. It's available from Boots for £6.99 - I've had this bottle for a while now and have had around 4 uses out of it, yet its only just reach half way so it really is great value for money. It's great for when you need a quick fix tan for an event rather than to look tanned every day. It provides up to 24 hour wear and gives a healthy bronze glow to your skin. I opted for the matte version as I think it looks more natural, and I love using it for a night out when I don't have time to sit and wait for tan to develop.

A tanning staple that I know a lot of people use is the St Tropez range. The one I like is the Tan Booster, which makes your fake or natural tan last longer. It costs around £15 depending on where you find it, I however bought mine from TK Maxx which cost £4.99 so make sure you look around!

A great alternative to the St Tropez range is the St Moriz range. They're a cheaper dupe of St T and are just as good (prices are around £4.99 in Boots). I have the tanning lotion and the tanning mousse but personally prefer the mousse as its so simple to apply and blend. A little goes a long way with these too so you get a lot of uses out of one bottle. It also dries really quickly as well so there's no 'awkward waiting around trying not to touch anything' phase.

The cheapest, yet just as good as the rest, fake than that I love is the Anovia Love The Tan which is available from Poundland (that's right, £1 tan). Its a really creamy lotion which is quite moisturising too. I leave it on for around 2-3 hours before washing off and I'm left with a gorgeous brown tan. It claims to gradually wear off but I find that after I've washed the base off, it only lasts for one more wash before coming off.

Do you wear fake tan? What's your favourite brand and why?

  1. I've only just started getting into gradual tanners, I posted a review of the Sukin sunless bronzing gel yesterday x

  3. Coco brown is my holy grail fake tan! This rimmell one sounds quite good though, may have to give it a go!

  4. I love the Cocoa Brown 1 Hour Tan, it has such a lovely floral scent unlike other fake tans I've tried :)
