Lifestyle: Lent and What I'm Giving Up

The start of lent, 40 days and 40 nights:
Lent marks the count down to Easter and starts on Ash Wednesday (the day after Pancake Tuesday). Last year I gave up meat, and continued to be a vegetarian for a year until I was hungover and needed chicken nuggets. Once I ate meat again I felt so much better and have had loads of energy since, so maybe it was a good thing. I'm still trying to eat as healthy as I did then which is why for this Lent I'm giving up junk food and snacking.
Snacking is my worse habit. I don't eat because I'm hungry, I eat because I have nothing else to do or that it's just there in front of me and easily accessible. I've tried giving up chocolate in the past and it's always failed me, but after being able to go veggie for a whole year I'm having higher hopes this time round.

Hopefully I'll be able to make it the full 40 days!

Are you giving up anything for Lent?

  1. It's my first year on 'attempting' lent. I think I am going to be giving up chocolate and crisps. I am the worst for picking them over fruit and veg, especially when I am feeling a bit shitty in myself, hope your manage to successful give up snacking :) xxx

  2. I'm not giving up anything but I do try to eat healthy. Wishing you lots of luck.

  3. I'm giving up dairy, so far so good! I'll just struggle when I'm faced with the possibility of a cheese burger!!

  4. Wishing you loads of luck Callie. How amazing that you managed to go veggie for a whole year! That's fab. When I was about 15, I managed it for about 9 months but then caved and had - of all things - chicken balls with sweet & sour sauce from the Chinese, and never looked back! Hehe.

I haven't given up anything in particular for lent, just because I'm getting a lot of cravings for weird things and I don't want to deny myself and the baby anything, but I'm going to try not to waste as much money as normal.
