Beauty: Favourite Beauty Products of 2014

A round up of my favourite beauty products of the past year:

It seems that most of my favourite beauty products of the year are make up related which surprised me. I also thought there would be a lot more products as my 2013 post had a lot more (see here).

My favourite hair care product of the year is Bleach London Silver Shampoo. It gets rid of brassy, yellow tones to leave my hair a whiter and brighter colour. It's pretty scary using it as it's a vivid purple colour and can stain your hair slightly if you leave it on for too long, however if you do it right, the brassy tones are gone. I use this every other wash and my hair stays a white colour.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Intensive Moisture cream has been the only face cream I've used in the past half year. It keeps my face moisturized and soft to touch, as well as being a great skin base when I go without primer. In the colder months I've been using it as a night cream and a day cream and is by far my favourite product from The Body Shop (and that's including the gorgeous body butters they do!)

Another face-y product that I've loved this year is the Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation. 2014 is the year I finally got my hands on the talked about foundation and I absolutely love it. It's a high coverage foundation that covers up redness and imperfections as well as being long lasting. There's a before and after picture here of what the foundation can do.

A new product that I've found in the last few months of 2014 was Soap and Glory Archery which is hands down the best brow product I've ever used. It's better than the HD Brows palette and the Benefit Gimme Brows put together. A review will be going up soon so keep an eye out for that.

The Stila Stay All Day eyeliner (in brown especially) has been my most used eyeliner this year. The applicator is like a pen which in my opinion makes eyeliner easier to apply. Although it's not waterproof as it suggests, it does take a while to remove and the colour is so pigmented that you only need one coat to achieve the correct colour. It goes on wet but dries almost instantly so you don't have to have an awkward face when waiting for it to dry.

My favourite, and most used concealer this year has been the Becca Compact Concealer. I wrote a review of it here. It has two sides for medium and full coverage which I use depending upon what foundation I'm using. I doesn't crease and gives great coverage. I actually bought it from Fragrance Direct but unfortunately they don't stock them anymore (boo!) which means I'm going to have to buy them at the full price from Space NK.

I was in a bit of two minds deciding which mascara I liked more. Either the Maybelline Big Eyes or Miss Manga, but decided to go with Big Eyes as I use it so much more and I'm onto my third purchase of it. The smaller brush is perfect for getting into the corners of my eyes and the lower lashes, and the larger brush separates the lashes and makes then fuller and longer - it really does give you big eyes.

And finally my favourite nail varnish has been Essie Aruba Blue. It's a gorgeous metallic dark blue colour which goes on perfectly in two thin coats. It doesn't chip and lasts for ages - perfect!

What have been your favourite products this year?

  2. I've been looking to try double wear for a while, but the two sample shades I was matched up too felt way to dark, might have to just match myself up and take the plunge!
