2013 is at an end and I've put together a mini review of my thirteen favourite products of the year. Are any of these your favourites too?
Bumble and Bumble Thickening Serum | £22.50 buy here
My hair is really thin and damaged due to my ever changing hair colours. Constantly bleaching my hair isn't doing it any good and my hair has become extremely thin in the past few years. This nifty product is designed to thicken each hair strand which as a result will thicken the appearance of your hair too. I've been using this since May and I'm only about a quarter of the way through the bottle. A little goes a long way with this stuff. My hair does seem thicker as when I tie my hair up with a bobble, I don't have to wrap it around as much as I used too. The price is a little steep but considering that this product has lasted so long it's definitely worth investing in.
REN T-Zone Control Cleansing Gel | £17 buy here
I LOVE this stuff (or it wouldn't be in this post, right?) It's great for washing your face with after you've removed your make up, or for washing your face in the morning. It controls the amount of oil in your t-zone and helps to reduce the amount of oil that is produced. My face always feels so clean when I've used this, like all the dirt and grime from the day (or sweat from the night) is really gone from my face. It's hard to find a cleanser as good as this.
Neal's Yard Remedies Wild Rose Beauty Balm | £37 buy here
This product has been a life saver for me in these colder months. I've been using it as a face mask recently to let the goodness from the balm melt into my face. It's really moisturising too which is great for this horrible weather. It's great at removing make up too as it transforms into an oil form when you're rubbing it onto your face, which helps to lift the make up off and cleanse your skin. It even comes with a little muslin cloth too!
Bobbi Brown BB Cream | £29 buy here
Best BB cream ever. Dang this stuff is good. The colour match is perfect for me and doesn't make me look too pink/yellow/ashy. The formula is so creamy it just blends so easily. I love how it feels on my face too - not too heavy - yet it manages to cover up red areas and pigmentation. The coverage is a light/medium I'd say, and it also contains SPF 15. I managed to snatch this up in a blog sale for half the retail price and I'm just SO happy with it. I'd say that this is the top product of 2013 for me. I can't rave about it enough!
by Terry Hydra-Powder | £41 buy here
This nifty little powder is magic. It mattifies my face and reduces the appearance of fine lines. The powder is super light and has been finely milled to help the powder sit on your skin without it looking dry. Its perfect for keeping excess oil at bay through out the day and can be worn over make up or skincare.
Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer | £7.99 buy here
This is probably my favourite concealer as it does what it's suppose to. It covers blemishes and dark circles instantly, lasts all day and doesn't 'cake'. For me, the colour match is so much better than that of the Collection one as the Bourjois has a more yellow undertone - which I think is generally better at correcting dark circles. For me, it's a winner.
Avon Mega Effect Mascara | £10 buy here
Apart from the fact that this mascara just looks weird in general, I really like it. It's really easy to use and separates and thickens as well as lengthens my eyelashes in just one coat. I really do think that this is a dupe for Benefit's They're Real at a much more purse friendly price.
Maybelline 24hour Gel Liner | £7.99 buy here
I've only really gotten into gel liners this past year and this one is my favourite yet. It stays put all day and goes on jet black. I've always hated buying black eyeliner and having to apply a million coats of it to make it black - this one only needs one coat and you're ready to go!
Eyeko Skinny Mini Liquid Eyeliner | £18 buy here
I got this in a magazine when I was off to an event and had forgotten my eyeliner. In a way I'm glad that I did forget my eyeliner as I would have never picked this up otherwise. This eyeliner is perfect for creating cat flicks and like the Maybelline Gel Liner, it goes on jet black. This stuff does't budge either and I need to rub a few times with my Clinique Take The Day Off before it's fully removed. I'll definitely buy this at the full price - it really is worth the money.
Real Techniques Blush Brush | £9.99 buy here
Out of all my brushes, this is my favourite. I use this to contour rather than blush as it's much easier to apply contour powder and it doesn't need as much blending in due to the size and angle of this brush. My contour is done in one stroke which definitely takes time off my make up routine. The bristles are so soft too!
MAC lipstick in 'Cosmo' | £15 buy here
This is my most used lipstick of the year as I tend to wear it most days. It's such an everyday lipstick which goes with every outfit possible. I always have this in my bag no matter where I go. A good dupe for this is Rimmel's Kate lipstick in '19'
OPI Nail Envy | £18.65 buy here
I've used enough of this that I've now got to tilt the bottle when I'm trying to get it out. I can't not have this on my nails anymore as I rely on it so much. It makes a great base coat for mani's, and an excellent top coat too. I need to buy more of this, I'm hoping someone will have it in the January sales *crosses fingers*.
Daniel Sandler Sculpt and Slim Contour Kit | £24.50 buy here
I've had this for as long as I've been blogging for and I wrote a very cringeworthy review of it in February. The colour of this is perfect for me as it's a light contour which is build-able. During the day I'll put a little bit of this on to give my face some shape, and at night I'll add a little bit more to it for a more dramatic look. It's a little pricy compared to high street prices but this has lasted me all year and I've only just hit the pan so it's worth investing in.
