I've decided to start a new series on my blog showcasing my favourite products in each category before I reveal my favourite products of 2013 in late December/early January.
Lets start off with concealers...

Illamasqua Under Eye Concealer in UC215 | £13 buy here

I only really shop at Illamasqua when I either need something or when theres a sale on. I'd heard some great things about this concealer but I didn't want to part my money with so much when I already had a few concealers that needed using. However when Illamasqua had one of their sales and I saw that this beauty was only £5, I added it straight into my basket and purchased it.
This concealer had been on my wish list for a while as I've seen so many people rave about it and one of my friends owns and swears by it.
This is a creamy concealer that leaves a just-less-than-matte-but-more-than-dewy type look if you get what I mean.
It blends so well and hides dark circles straight away. It even comes in a little compact with a mirror so it's quite hand bag friendly, and you can apply it on the train when you're running late for work.
Sometimes I wear just this without any foundation and it lasts a full 9-5 day without creasing or coming off.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer in 52 | £7.99 buy here

This concealer was bought when I purchased the matching foundation, and while I didn't get on with the foundation I really like this. I'd say that it is quite thick but it doesn't feel heavy under your eyes. It smells great and the coverage lasts all day. It leaves a matte finish too which I really like.
The colour match on the HM concealer is a lot better for me that the Collection one as theres more shades, and the undertone of the Healthy Mix is yellow rather than the pink of the Collection one.
I'd repurchase this again and again. It's worth every penny.

Collection 16 Hour Wear Concealer in Medium | £4.19 buy here

Now although I've basically just slated it, I do actually like this concealer. Okay so the colour match isn't perfect, but the lastingness and the coverage of this concealer is great. It covers dark circles under the eyes extremely well and I even use it to cover any other redness that I may have on my face.
It leaves a matte finish which I like, and its really easy to apply with the wand.
I've previously spoken about it here

Benefit Boiing in 03 | £16.50 buy here

Did you notice Amy sneaking this into the jungle on I'm a Celeb? Bit of Benefit promoting there ;)
This claims to be an 'industrial-strength concealer' which I'm not really sure what that means. It does last a long time on my face though. It's such a versatile product - dark circles, redness, blemishes etc. It covers everything really well and keeps them hidden all day.
I use Real Techniques pointed foundation brush to apply this and i sort of 'push' it onto my skin rather than rubbing it in. I find that this works best to covers things up.
Its pricey, but a little goes a very long way so this will last you a while.

What's your favourite concealer? Have you tried any of these?

  1. I guess we have such brands here in Russia, but probably I'm wrong:) Great review! Thank You for sharing such a nice post!
Wish you a blessed day ahead!

  2. I saw Amy with Boiing and immediately wanted it; I'm such a sucker for a bit of advertising! That being said, she is a beauty queen I suppose. Such a lovely selection of products though, I've tried both the Collection one and the Bourjois option, but I'm loyal to my trusty Benefit Erase Paste for the time being x

  3. Wow you got a total bargain with that Illamasqua concealer, I'd love to try that!

    Demi | Kiss & Makeup

  4. I tried the Benefit Boiing concealer and found it to be really drying and cakey :( However I love the collection concealer and use that everyday :)

  5. ahh did a similar post and love both the collection concealer and bourjois HM definitely need to try the illamasqua concealer xx

  6. Sorry, I guess this is a relatively old post to comment on. Anyway, I was just wondering which one of these concealers you consider best for dark circles? I have very dark ones, and I know I will have to fork out for an expensive concealer sooner or later, but being a teenager I have zero money and would like to buy a good quality one that will last me. Thanks!
