It's that time of the year when the wind and rain hit and the temperatures drop. My whole winter wardrobe seems to come out at once - the scarves, thick jumpers, parka coats etc. As well as making sure I don't freeze to death when I'm on my travels, I also need to make sure that the exposed part of my skin is kept well moisturised. This includes my hands and face mainly, and today I'm going to be talking about my five favourite lip products that are going to help me get through winter.
First up is the 'Fizzers' lip balm which I bought from Primark (I recently talked about it here). It smells really sweet which is nice as I'm applying it right underneath my nose after all. It doesn't really have a taste, and is colour free too so it's great fro applying either under or over lipsticks. Hydrating wise, it doesn't last as long as the others, but it does last a good hour or so.
Next up is Burts Bees lip balm. I have a few of these but this replenishing one with Pomegranate oil is my favourite from all my BB lip balms as I find it the most moisturising. It has a red tint to it but it's so light that you'd have to apply the whole tube to your lips before you noticed a colour difference. I tend to wear this over my lipstick as I find that sometimes the lipstick won't apply properly when I wear this lip balm underneath.
I have had this Balmi lip balm for just under a year and it has still kept it's shape. I use this all year round and would even go as far as saying that this is probably my holy grail lip balm. Its really moisturising and has SPF 15 in it too. I believe that Balmi is the UK version to EOS? I have the peppermint one, but they do others like strawberry and coconut too.
This Harlequin Origin lip balm* is the latest edition to my collection but I can see that it's already going to be a winter staple for me. It's been made with 100% organic ingredients which are kinder on your lips - it's also free of parabens and sulphates. Harlequin are a family run cosmetics company who sell handmade products which they make themselves at home - how cool is that?
And finally, a product that you can never go wrong with is Vaseline. I've used Vaseline since my high school days and have used them since. This one is the Limited Edition one called 'Paint the Town' which has a red tint to it. Some people have said that the tint stains your clothes or fingers but I haven't had the problem. I wear this over my lipsticks, and although I've used Vaseline for years I wouldn't say that it's the most moisturising thing ever. It's also messier than the others to apply as you apply it with your fingers rather than directly onto your lips. All that being said, I still adore Vaseline.
