Leeds Festival 2013

Friday morning vs Saturday afternoon...

Hey guys! So a few of you know that I recently went to Leeds Festival so I thought I'd do a little post for you.
It was my first ever festival which I was both excited and nervous about. I was excited because I had never been to one before and it would be a great experience, as well as being able to see some great bands (and Eminem). I was nervous about it because I had heard stories of what goes on at festivals and I didn't want to be a girl in the tabloids the next day (festival toilets anyone?)

I had a great time, despite the rain and mud, but I'm not sure I would go to such a big festival like Leeds any time soon. Maybe a smaller one?

I went with my boyfriend Mike and my friend Jade and her boyfriend Ste. We arrived on the Thursday and set up in Brown camp. Brown camp is the furthest camp from the areana and also a family friendly camp, so it's usually less quieter and friendlier than the other camps.
The first night was horrible. There was a thunder storm and our small two man tent was drowned, including our sleeping bag, so we ended up sleeping in our friends 'spare room' in her tent meaning we had to sleep on the cold floor. It's safe to say that I've never been colder or more misrable in my life that night.
Despite the rain, the next morning was so sunny and hot that I managed to sunbathe and catch a tan, while Mike and Ste got sunburnt.
After Friday though, the mud and rain kicked in and it was horrible trying to get up hills and not fall trying to get to the various arenas.

When I got home early Monday I had the longest shower I have ever had, and slept like a baby that night in my own bed.
Being at a festival really makes you appreciate the simple things, like hot running water and even the need for a blanket.

I managed to put together a little video of my time there although it's not as long as 4 days... and I'm sorry for the amount of Eminem.

p.s if you want to see a toilet, skip to the end... or not

Have you ever been to a festival?

  1. I went to Glastonbury this year and it was definitely better than Leeds :) there's so much more to do, alternative performances other than music, chill out areas, the healing fields where you could get all kinds of 'hippy' treatments, so many nighttime areas! If you'd go to one again, definitely do it there :) although I am super jealous because the Leeds line up was awesome! Not so much of the rain though ;) xx

  2. I would highly recommend Glastonbury as well. There are so many great areas to hang out and relax in. It just has a really chilled atmosphere. There are so many things to see and do, that you could be fully occupied the whole time without even going anywhere near the main stages.

  3. haha the mud was awful this year, so many funny stories to go with it though. How did you cope walking to and from brown?! Blue camp for the win ;) although we did have some annoying druggies next to us who didn't seem to move from their gazebo all weekend.

Glastonbury and Leeds next year for me!
