Hi guys! Sorry for my slight absence these past couple of weeks. Sometimes life catches up to you and you need to take a break, know what I mean?
But fear not as I'm back! I decided that instead of doing a 'This Month I love...' I'd do a Disappointing Products post again as the last one (here) seemed to go down well with you guys.
Now I must admit that not everything in the post was paid for by myself, but my views and opinions are still my own.
Neal & Wolf Volumising Lotion: I received this in my first Beauteco Box (now called Love Me Beauty) and I had some really really high hopes for it as the boxes were all sold out and everyone seemed to be raving about it.
However it wouldn't be in my disappointing products if I'd have liked it now would it?
I followed the instructions and hoped for some sort of volumised hair at the end, but sadly all I was left with was greasy limp hair - the total opposite of what it claimed to do.
I tried using a few different techniques to try to make this product work, but all it seemed to do was weigh my hair down and make it look greasy and horrible.
It smells okay, but thats about all the product is good for.
Living Proof Prime Style Extender: I received this back in May (ish) in my Space NK GWP. The thought of using this as a 'time saver' and 'weather proof' was a god send for my naturally wavy fringe. I remember thinking 'If this works I'll buy the full size' - well it's a good job I got a sample size of it first as it didn't work, sadly.
Although the product sounds good, it sadly didn't work and just left my fringe greasy - which is never good!
Neal & Wolf Hair Paste: I received this at an event back in March(?) and at first I really liked it as my hair was shorted therefore paste worked better than hair spray for me. But as my hair grew longer the product became harder to apply.
The paste is really thick and comes out in a pump (which I think dispenses too much product), which you can then warm up in your hands and apply it to your hair.
It does give good volume, but because the paste is really thick I was always left with huge clumps of hair stuck to the palms of my hands, as well as loads of left over product. It's really sticky too and takes a while to melt into the hair.
Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundtion: I have only recently bought this this month and was eager to try it out. I know that Estée (essiebutton) raves about the Healthy Mix Serum as well as a lot of other bloggers, but I was told that the Serum can be quite thick whereas the foundation version is thinner therefore much more buildable.
After using this for a week I noticed a few spots were appearing on my face, and as the HMF was the only new thing I had started using on my face, I suspected that it was the cause. So I stopped using if for a while and the spots soon cleared up. Once I went back to using HMF the spots came back (sigh) so I had to stop again.
I don't know what it is about the foundation that doesn't work with my face, as I've never really had a foundation react that way with me before. Also, I have the concealer version which works fine... mystery.
Rimmel Scandaleyes Micro Eyeliner: again, I had high hopes for this product as I like the other products in the Scandaleyes range (I have several pencil eyeliners and their mascara). I was hoping that this would be long lasting and actually be waterproof but sadly it wasn't. I found that the formula wasn't black, but much more faded, and you needed several applications to achieve that black black look. Also as for waterproof? Well I took it to Leeds Festival with me and lets just say that I had panda eyes after that storm.
The staying power is rubbish too as it only last for a few hours before you have to reapply again. I had hoped for more from this eyeliner as like I said, the other product from the range are great.
