July has been a very busy month for me, as well as being a super hot one. With that in mind I tend to wear as little as possible on my face during the day (as make up usually melts off anyway) and use more cleansers to wash away sweat and dirt.
I've been trying a lot of new things this month, both because I'm on a (sort of) spending ban, and because I've been to five events this month which means I've been exposed to new brands and given the opportunity to try their things.
First up is Collection's Lasting Perfection concealer. I know that everyone and their dog has tried this, and I'm a little late to the game, but honestly I never actually wore concealer before. It's only these past two or so months that I've been looking into investing in some, and everyone recommended this. To be honest, it does the job but it isn't something amazing. The colour match is a little off as I think there should be a wider colour range to suit everybody. I got the medium which is a little pink for my skin tone, however it does have a matte finish which is great. It's also super cheap at only £4.19
I've been wearing more eyeliner recently too, and when I saw a magazine offering a free eyeliner I immediately picked it up (I can't remember which magazine it was - I buy that many!) The eyeliner is an Eyeko Skinny Mini Liquid eyeliner, which is like a pen. I love pen eyeliners as I think it makes application so much easier. The colour of mine is black, which is very pigmented and is such a dark black its amazing. The eyeliner isn't waterproof but doesn't smudge or flake, or melt in the heat! It's perfect for cat flicks too. The only downside is that the pen itself dries out fairly quick, so make sure you keep that lid tight on!
I was looking at the Neal's Yard Remedies Wild Rose Beauty Balm* when I went to their event in Manchester, and I was sooo tempted to buy it as I sampled it in store and really liked it. It's a good job that I didn't buy it as it came in the goodie bag we were kindly given!
I've written a review on it here.
I've been trying to grow my nails out for soooo long that I had all but given up. I originally saw someone mentioning OPI Nail Envy on twitter but didn't think much of it until I saw it in store and decided to pick it up. At any case I could do with a new base anyway. Now I'm not claiming that it actually works to make my nails grow quicker or anything, but my nails have grown a lot, and stay that way for a longer time too (they used to break after getting a millimetre longer than 'just bitten'). I have noticed that they are super strong though, as my nails sometimes bend when I'm cleaning my sons room but they never break or chip off. For the past month or so I've been wearing it both under and over nail varnish as a base and top coat, and I've hardly dented the amount thats still remaining. However I do think that this is a 'marmite' product - I just happen to love it!
