My Every Day Make Up

It's been a while since I did an every day make up post (I think the last one was in January) so I think it's safe to say that I have updated and changed my look a lot, especially since we've been having warmer weather.
Since beauty blogging I've become aware of all the different types of product that help women to achieve their look. For example, I had never realised that contouring was something that most people do, or that using a different brush makes all the difference in the world.

A product that I think I will be using for the rest of my life is Urban Decay's Brow Box. I've had this for years, literally. And I know that I should have thrown it out by now but I haven't even hit pan yet, so I think there's going to be a few more years worth in it.
The Brow Box comes with two coloured powders, a brush, tweezers and some setting wax. I don't use the wax that often, and I only really use the darker powder unless I've dyed my hair a lighter colour.
I usually apply this last, and it lasts all day - through sweating it out in the gym to downpours of rain when you've lost your umbrella. It's not waterproof as it's only powder, but I think the wax really helps in winter months.

MAC Studio Fix Fluid in NC20 is my go to liquid foundation at the moment. It isn't a high coverage foundation as my freckles like to come through, but it does a great job at covering up red areas on my face. It doesn't come with a pump, but I bought one separately as I do prefer a pump dispenser. Some people have said that this leaves a matte finish, but personally it sets a bit dewy on me - but not the sweaty dewy look.
Rimmel Fix & Perfect primer is the only primer I own, and why not? It does a wonderful job at keeping my make up on my face, and really does smooth out my face for a better base. Sometimes I'll use this in the summer and just put powder on top, but most times it's used under my MAC foundation.
If I'm not wearing a primer, I'm wearing Garnier Moisture Match instead. This is a great moisturiser which I reviewed here

I use a blush brush by Barbra Daly to apply my blusher, my RT Pointed Foundation brush to blend any liquids around my eyes, RT Contour brush to apply my Daniel Sandler contour kit, my RT Lash-Brow groomer to shape my eyebrows and separate lashes, and my RT buffing brush to apply my MAC foundation and blend it in. (I like Real Technique brushes!)
My go to pencil eyeliner recently has been Rimmel Scandaleyes* as its super easy to use and you get a great colour without having to reapply.
I ran out of my holy grail mascara so I've been using KIKO's Luxurious Lashes mascara which I really like. I first discovered KIKO on my trip to Italy in January, and since then I've been stocking up on their products.

When I use a top powder I apply it using my bareMinerals face brush, which I actually picked up in a blog sale once. It's a nice big brush that applies any powder well, and can cover a larger area making applying quicker too.
My everyday face blush is MAC's Sincere. It's a powder blush that MAC describe as being a muted beige/coral. I'd say its more of a peach colour that would suit just about everyone. It's such a nice colour for an everyday look as it adds a natural colour to your cheeks making you look more fresh and alive (if you know what I mean).
The only contour product that I haven't got bored of is Daniel Sandler's Contour kit. It is designed to sculpt and slim your face, and comes with two powders inside. One powder is a highlighter, and the other side is the contour powder. I've used the highlighter side but I can't work it so I mainly just use the contour side of it. It's a really good contouring set as it allows your to build up the contouring to a darkness that you prefer, which is great as you won't end up looking like you have 5 o'clock shave. It's a bit pricy but lasts for ages.

I've never been any good at applying liquid liner, so Smashbox Paint Pen eyeliner is a real lifesaver. It's the cheats way to applying eyeliner as it comes in a marker pen style with a pointed tip for pressision application. I wrote a review on it here.
For days when I want more coverage or for when I want a more matte finish I use MAC Studio Fix powder as it does a great job at setting make up. It also contains its own foundation so it's good for when I just want a light face. I just wear this with a primer underneath.

I don't have an everyday lipstick as it tends to change depending upon my mood or what I'm wearing, but these are the lipsticks that get used the most.
[L-R]: MAC Pro Longwear in 'Overtime', Rimmel Kate in '19', MAC 'Morange', YSL Rouge Volupte in 'Nude Beige'
KIKO Lipstick in '808', Nars 'Outsider', Avon Extra Lasting 'Fiery Red', No7 'Glam'
Illamasqua 'Scandal', Paul & Joe '305', No7 'Mulberry'

And this is what my everyday make up looks like on me. My lipstick is YSL Rouge Volupte in 'Nude Beige'

What do you use on a daily basis?

  1. The Urban Decay brow box sounds amazing! I only started doing my eyebrows in around April(have had a full fringe up until then) and I've already hit pan on the eyeshadow I use for them! Nude beige is a lovely lip colour :)
