OOTD: LAYERS

One thing I like about winter is that you can layer up your clothes. I think layering looks great, and you can create so many styles and looks this way.

REVIEW: CLINIQUE TAKE THE DAY OFF CLEANSING BALM

I've always been a fan of Clinique skincare as they do as they say on the packaging. They're simple, effective and do my skin some good.
My first taste of the Take The Day Off range was around two years ago when I started using the make up remover for Lids, Lashes and Lips. It is one of the most effective ways of safely removing waterproof mascara and stubborn lipstick, and it's safe for contact lens wearers too.

EMPTIES #1

I've never done an Empties post before as I've never been able to finish enough products around the same time. I hate having empty bottles and things lying around so I usually just throw them out (not to mention my boyfriend just gets rid of everything anyway)
But this month I noticed that a few things were coming to their end so I thought I'd do my best and keep hold of them until enough gather for a blog post - and here we are!
So what have I used up this month?

DOMESTIC ABUSE: LIVING THROUGH IT AND MOVING ON

I would just like to start off by saying that this post is in no way intended to be to gain sympathy or followers etc. It's sad that I have to write that on my own blog but I feel like its something that I had to say.

I'd never really thought about domestic abuse much as no one really talked about it and when it is spoken about you never think that it's something that will ever happen to you. In reality though DA happens and once you're trapped inside an abusive relationship it is hard to get out.
This is a post that I've wanted to write about for so long but I've always put it off as I didn't know how it would be received. However I think that domestic abuse is something that people, not just girls, need to know about - and know that whatever is happening, I'm here for you to talk to.

TAG: HOW MUCH IS MY FACE WORTH?

Hello everyone! Today I thought I'd do a tag. I like doing tags as it changes things up a little from outfit posts and beauty reviews. This tag in particular has been doing the rounds in the blogging world, and I decided to do it after I saw my good friend Fran from thefrancescadiaries.blogspot.co.uk had done it (she's amazing - go follow her!)

Vogue Fashion's Night Out: Manchester October 10th 2013

As many of you will know, Vogue came to Manchester to host their annual Fashion's Night Out. It's usually hosted in London, but this year they decided to travel up North and host it in Manchester.

I decided to go along and meet up with some fellow bloggers which turned out to be quite fun. Who needs an excuse to meet up with some girls and do some shopping?
I was going to vlog the night, but having my camera constantly rolling whilst talking and shopping was a bit tricky for me, so I just took some pictures instead.
I will post a review of a few things that I bought on the night soon, but for now, I'll let the pictures do the talking.

Disappointing Products #2

Hi guys! Sorry for my slight absence these past couple of weeks. Sometimes life catches up to you and you need to take a break, know what I mean?
But fear not as I'm back! I decided that instead of doing a 'This Month I love...' I'd do a Disappointing Products post again as the last one (here) seemed to go down well with you guys.
Now I must admit that not everything in the post was paid for by myself, but my views and opinions are still my own.

HAUL: Space NK inc. GWP

Space NK recently had one of their gift with purchase offers that I believe are just too good to miss. A lot of the stuff that I bought have been on my wish list for a while including the by Terry powder and the two Stila eyeliners.
Their offer was that if you spent £150 you got a gift bag with contents worth £260 (or something like that) so in my eyes I couldn't really pass if off.

You'd think that spending £150 was really expensive, and I would too if I haven't had just received my student loan. But like I said, most of the things I'd had on my wish list for a while so that justifies things right? ;)

So what did I purchase from Space NK?
I bought: Bumble and Bumble thickening Creme Contour, Nars lipstick in Red Lizard, Michael Van Clarke 3''' more inches, Stila One Step, by Terry Hyaluronic Hydra-powder and two Stila Stay All Day eyeliners in dark brown and black.

1/ By Terry Hyaluronic Hydra-powder (£41 here): this single product was the one I was most looking forward to as I've wanted it for the longest. It's a colourless powder that minimise wrinkles, fine lines and pores leaving a matte finish. I apply it with a small brush around my eyes and nose. You may think that £41 is a lot for just a powder but you literally only need the smallest amount so this product could easily last a good few years.

2/ Stila Stay All Day eyeliner in Black and Dark Brown (£13 each here): I love these eyeliners as they're so easy to use meaning you don't need the steadiest hand to achieve a perfect line. I wouldn't say that they are waterproof as such, however they do last all day and dry almost instantly.

3/ Bumble and Bumble thickening creme contour (£21.50 here): this is like a texturising paste that I apply to the ends of my hair to add a little bit of texture. I also apply it to the mid-sections when I have my hair curled or waved as it adds loads of volume and keeps the style for longer.

4/ Nars lipstick in Red Lizard (£18.50 here): although it doesn't look it in the picture, I assure you it is a dark red. It's the most perfect shade for autumn I think, and being a fan of red lipsticks I just knew I had to have it. It leaves a satin finish, and lasts as long as my MAC lipsticks do.

5/ Michael Van Clarke 3''' more inches (£29 here): I am always on a mission to grow my hair and I won't stop until I have it the length that I'm after. I decided to pick up this pre wash treatment as I usually just stick to oils and masks to help my hair growth. I haven't used this yet but hopefully it will do the price tag some justice and actually give me 3 more inches.

6/ Stila One Step Correct (£24 here): this is actually a repurchase. I've been buying this for about two years now and I don't know why I don't rave about it. It corrects everything in an instant as works great as a primer under make up too. If you have redness, sallow undertones or dull skin then this beauty will fix it all as well as minimising pores, lines and even controlling oil!

And this is the contents of the gift bag. As you can see there is a wide selection of products that I am very eager to try.
I love GWP, it feels like Christmas!

So what was inside?

[l-r] Laura Mercier foundation primer, Zelens Anti Age cream, RéVive peel, Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector, Rococo Nail varnish in 'Lady Lavender', Nude Treatment Oil, Rodical moisturiser, Algenist Firming and Lifting Cream, RéVive cream

[l-r] Brighton body lotion, Phyto hair conditioner, Sarah Chapman Chin and Jaw lift, Nuxe Youth and Radiance fluid, Eve Lom moisturiser, Wei treatment pad, REN Neroli and Grapefruit body cream, Malin + Goetz face moisturiser, Diptyque scented candle, REN t-zone balancing day fluid, Caudalié radiance serum, Marula oil, Chantecaille lipgloss in fig and finally This Work deep sleep pillow spray.

Expect some reviews in the following months of some of these products.

Did you take up this offer too? What do you like the look of?

New Buy: RT Blush Brush

Real Techniques Blush Brush £9.99 | buy here

Ever since I bought the RT Core Collection I've been dying to get my hands on more of the brushes, but I couldn't justify why I would need them. For a long time I convinced myself that I'm only going to buy a new Real Techniques brush if and when I needed one.

For contouring, I used the Contour Brush from the Core Collection as I didn't know any better (the brush clearly states contour...) but the more I used it the more I didn't like it's purpose. The brush head on the Contour Brush is small, and to some that might be a great size, but I needed a brush that was bigger but something that still enabled me to contour properly.
And so I started watching a few girls on YouTube using the Blush Brush. Some were using it for it's purpose, and others weren't. One method was to use it for contouring, and the results that it gave were so incredible that I popped the RT Blush Brush onto my wish list pronto.

I'll admit that I didn't buy it straight away, and I was always taking a peak in Boots umm-ing and ahh-ing at the brush. I just didn't want to part with my money on a brush that I didn't really need. I mean, the Contour Brush was working fine, I just wanted bigger.

In the end I bought it, and I'm so glad that I did. It works wonders for applying contour powder (I use the Daniel Sandler Sculpt and Slim), but I can also see it being great for applying bronzer too. One sweep is all it takes to apply and the brush is great for blending product in too.

As with all Real Technique brushes, the bristles are really soft and don't scratch your skin. I'm really glad I bought this and I'm definitely not going to hesitate when purchasing more RT brushes!

Do you own any Real Techniques brushes?
